November 15, 2016 Trash Can Fire Extinguished at Fond du Lac High School

Fond du Lac, WI: On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 1:50 p.m. FDLFR responded to a reported fire alarm activation at FDLHS at 801 Campus Drive.  While responding FDL County Dispatch advised that a call from the school reported a fire in a second floor men’s bathroom. The building was evacuated per normal evacuation procedures and without incident.  The fire was extinguished by a quick thinking staff member but not before the fire destroyed a plastic trash container affixed to the bathroom wall.  The fire created a significant amount of smoke throughout the hallways which had to be cleared by firefighters before students and staff were able to re-enter the school.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the FDLPD and FDLFR.  There were no injuries reported. Students and staff were out of the building for approximately one hour.
