Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Saves Occupant from Structure Fire

Fond du Lac, WI:  On Monday December 14, 2015 at 2:15 a.m. Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was called to 16 North Lincoln Avenue for a structure fire. Dispatch also reported a person was trapped on the second floor of the building unable to get out due to the fire blocking her exit. A Fond du Lac Police Officer on scene first reported he could see a person in the second floor window on east side of structure.

The fire crews arrived on scene and confirmed a fire in the front corner of the structure. They laddered the building and were able to rescue the person from the window without incident. Paramedics assessed and released the occupants. No injuries noted.  The fire attack crews were able to successfully locate and extinguish the fire.

The fire was contained to the first floor living room, but the home sustained smoke damage throughout.  Smoke alarms were not working at the time of the fire.  The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation. The Red Cross and Alliant Energy were called to the scene to assist.  The Fond du Lac Police assisted with on-scene management and the fire investigation.  FDL Fire/Rescue will be out completing a fire safety canvas of the surrounding neighborhood today.
