Morning Apartment Fire Displaces Resident Fond du Lac, WI:  On July 8, 2014, at 9:21 AM the Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to a reported apartment fire at 180 North Butler Street.  Upon arrival, fire crews encountered smoke in the structure and performed search and rescue.  They were able to evacuate all residents, numerous were treated and released for smoke inhalation.   The fire was extinguished and contained to a single apartment.   The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac Fire and Police Departments.  One apartment was deemed uninhabitable and the Red Cross was assisting those
residents.  The Fond du Lac Police Department also assisted with scene security, and traffic control.  Alliant energy was called to the scene to secure utilities.  The
Fond du Lac Fire Department will go door to door canvassing the area tomorrow
to talk to residents about having working smoke detectors.
