Firefighters Rescue Woman from Burning House

From House Fire
 Fond du Lac, WI:  On March 3, 2014  at 8:30 a.m. the
City of Fond du Lac Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at
394 Ruggles Street. Upon arrival companies encountered heavy fire conditions
throughout the 2- story wood frame house.  Firefighters were alerted by
dispatchers that a woman was trapped. Fire crews arrived on the scene within
minutes and rescued a woman from a first floor window. She was taken to a
nearby ambulance and was treated and transported to the hospital.   A
MABAS Box Alarm was called to bring in area fire departments to assist with
on-scene needs and station coverage.   Fond du Lac firefighters were
assisted by fire crews from Lamartine, Town of Fond du Lac, Eden, and Mt.
Calvary along with off-duty Fond du Lac firefighters.  A total of 55
personnel were called. Fire crews were hampered by frozen fire hydrants for a
period of time.  The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  Investigators from the Fond du Lac Police and Fire Departments were on-scene  to attempt to determine the cause and origin of the fire.  Investigators are looking towards an electrical issue as the possible cause.  Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure utilities.  The FDL Police assisted with traffic and scene control.  The Red Cross was also called in to assist firefighters due to the extreme cold weather conditions. Fond du Lac Public Works crews assisted with various issues related  to the cold weather.
