Fire Destroys Fond du Lac Home

Press Release From The City of Fond du Lac Fire Department December 9, 2013   Contact:  Division Chief Troy Haase 920-539-8994   Fire Destroys Fond du Lac Home Fond du Lac, WI:  On December 9, 2013 at 9:02 a.m.  the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 65 N. Hickory Street. Upon arrival companies encountered heavy fire conditions throughout the 1 ½ story wood frame residence.  The home was reported to be vacant but due to the fire conditions, firefighters were unable to enter the structure.  Defensive operations were in place to protect the homes on either side of the fire building.  A MABAS Box Alarm was called to bring in area fire departments to assist with on-scene needs and station coverage.     The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office have been called to the scene to assist local investigators with the cause and origin of the fire. There were no injuries reported.   Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure utilities.  The FDL Police assisted with traffic and scene control.  The Red Cross was also called in to assist firefighters due to the extreme cold weather conditions.
