Fire at McDonalds on West Johnson Street

Fire Quickly Extinguished at McDonald's Restaurant on West Johnson Street

FOND DU LAC, WI – On January 18, 2013 at 6:09 a.m., the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire inside the McDonald’s Restaurant located at 770 West Johnson Street.  Upon arrival, fire crews observed heavy black smoke coming from the roof vent. All people in the restaurant were evacuated.  

The fire was contained to the deep fryer area and was quickly extinguished but with extensive damage to this area.  No injuries were reported.  The exact cause of the fire is undetermined and the Fond du Lac Fire Department is working with the building owner to ensure the fire suppression system will be operational. 

Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure utilities.  The Fond du Lac County Health Department was also notified and came to the scene.  The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with traffic management. 

The Fond du Lac Fire Department was on the scene approximately two hours.
