FOND DU LAC, WI –Emergency responders from the Fond du Lac area participated in a state funded training exercise Monday evening, Oct. 3, 2011, which focused on how to manage Mass Causality Incidents (MCI). The training was put on by the Northwest Technical College and hosted by Fond du Lac Fire Department.

The tabletop exercises focused on two separate scenarios where rescue workers were placed into specific incident management roles—one based upon a major traffic accident on a highway and another from a partial collapse of an occupied school after a tornado.

“The MCI tabletop brought a realistic hands-on approach to learning the critical components of Incident Management, allowing rescue workers from various departments to work together to achieve a common goal,” said Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary. “It’s exciting to see area departments working together in a collaborative way which will serve us all well out in the field.”

A similar scenario based tabletop will take place Wednesday evening at the Town
of Calumet Fire Department.
